LMMF announced that the 2006 LMFF Designer Award presented by Tiffany & Co.

2006 L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) will be take place during February 26 to March 4, 2006.

LMFF will launch the Festival week of activities with the 2006 LMFF Designer Award presented by Tiffany & Co.

The prestigious Designer Award promotes excellence in the Australian fashion industry and has helped launch the successful careers of past award winners Toni Maticevski, Mad Cortes, Claude Maus and Josh Goot.

The 2006 LMFF Designer Award presented by Tiffany & Co offers an outstanding and inspiring platform to celebrate and cultivate exceptional talent and to present newcomers to the local and international arena.

From a competitive field of entrants, five finalists have been selected to present their capsule collections to a judging panel comprising a diverse group of respected industry heavyweights.

This year's panel includes Paris-based Melbourne designer Martin Grant; Natasha Inchley, Fashion News Director of Vogue Australia; Katie Somerville, Curator of Australian Fashion and Textiles, National Gallery Victoria; and Karen Webster, Festival Director, L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

The finalists for the 2006 LMFF Designer Award presented by Tiffany & Co are:

- Alpha 60
- camilla & marc
- Material By-Product
- T.vanek Verner

The winner of the 2006 LMFF Designer Award presented by Tiffany & Co will be announced at a special presentation at Comme on Monday 27 February, the first day of the Festival week. Tiffany & Co's New York Vice-President – Elsa Peretti Collections, Frank Arcaro, will present the winner with a $10,000 cheque and a commemorative Tiffany trophy.

LMFF provides the opportunity for the person on the street to be on the fashion A-list and to have access to fashion shows, parties and cultural activities. The L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival impacts on everyone in Melbourne and enhances the city's reputation as a destination for style.
