This 34th edition of ModAmont broke all the records, as 303 exhibitors were able to meet 22,344 buyers, in comparison with the 302 exhibitors and 22,017 visitors of September 2008 – the last record session. Despite a context that remains uncertain, it was clear to see that the mood is one of doing rather than thinking. Visitors demonstrated this by sending more people per company and by placing orders at the show. The incredible efforts of exhibitors in terms of creativity and innovation were particularly noticeable at the general forum, Display. With a record number of 22,344 visitors, ModAmont registered a 3.8% increase, against September 2011. This increase was mostly felt on the stands during the first two days, with an increase of 7.3% and 10% respectively, against September 2011. Despite the fears around having the last day fall on a Friday, there were just 500 fewer visitors than in September 2011, and most of the exhibitors worked throughout the afternoon. Even more importantly, the quantity did not impact on the quality, as Andrea Gorone, director of the Italian company Seab, explained: “This edition of ModAmont was very positive for Seab. We observed an increase in the number of contacts and, even more importantly, the professional contacts were of very high quality."
The proportion of international visitors remained stable at 60% and in number terms, with some 13,222 visitors. Distribution by country shows a general increase in the number of visitors from the key countries in the fashion industry. We also saw a significant rise in the number of Spanish buyers (1088 / +12%), a return to the show which was also noticed by exhibitors.

After a dip last February, Italy passed the 2000 visitors threshold (2036 / +16%) and regained its position as the 2nd largest country in terms of buyers. With the exception of the Netherlands, which showed a slight drop (4.8% / 536), the countries of Northern Europe all showed an increase - Denmark (151 / +28%), Norway (135 / +82.5%), Belgium (753/+10%) – and it has now become the second buying cluster behind central Europe. Still in Europe, but heading east this time, Romania saw its visitor numbers increase by 47.7% (189).
