Zandra Rhodes to display ethical line at Pure London

Zandra Rhodes, the iconic Textiles and Fashion Designer, has partnered with Fair Trade fashion pioneer People Tree. Their exclusive capsule collection has been made at Fair Trade artisanal and tailoring groups in India, where People Tree aim to provide fair trade to those in some of the most marginalised communities. The A/W 13 collection sees Zandra’s world-renowned unique use of bold prints and feminine patterns.

The 6 piece collection will be made using 100% organic cotton and hand-printed silk across a range of contemporary silhouettes, including an iconic Zandra Rhodes kaftan.

Zandra Rhodes visited the organic cotton fields and Fair Trade groups in India in January 2013 with People Tree CEO and Founder, Safia Minney.

“I have always loved the idea of my designs being created in organic and Fair Trade fabrics and working with Fair Trade groups, putting people right at the heart of my creations – but where to begin? What steps to take? Then I met Safia Minney! My life’s work has been creating original clothing for women to wear and feel fabulous about them and the ‘icing on the cake’ now is that I have the opportunity to design with a conscience. “I used to bump into Zandra when People Tree had a concession in Topshop. I didn’t imagine that one day I would have the chance to take her to meet People Tree’s organic cotton farmers and our Fair Trade partners in India. Zandra and Safia will be discussing their capsule collection on the Grand Hall Stage on Monday 11th February, at 1:45pm. The range will be on show at the People Tree stand within the Directorial section of Pure London.
