Manish adorns 'Threads of Emotion' line with Phulkari work

Phulkari embroidery, which is native to Punjab, is at the heart of the collection. In a reinterpretation of traditional craftsmanship from a modern approach, Manish has embellished the line in Phulkari work, which is a symbol of maternal Cove and faith along with "Bagh" embroidery which is a very intense form of ancestral art.

As a costume designer for 23 years and 7.5 years of his own label, Manish has always wanted to promote Indian craft. To popularize this local craft internationally, .Manish recently showcased his beautiful chikankari collection at various shows in Dubai and London. Commenting on his collection and the support he 8 extending to local craft, Manish says, "Last 2 years I have promoted Kashmir thread and zari work and chikankari work from Mijwan, a small village in U.P. The idea is to focus on craftsmanship and showcase it at various fashion weeks by roping in celebrities, thus making it more popular and in turn influencing more people to wear these handcrafted pieces.

" The collection features saris, anarkalis, floor length anarkalis and angarakhas. For men, there are bandhgalas and structured clothes. The primary fabrics used are georgette, net and raw silk, and there is a Cot of texture work.

Manish Malhotra has spun together the weaves of Phulkari into his signature styles in autumn colors like rich mustard yellow, navy blue, deep rust, earthy olive and intense red The collection reflects modern India, its rich heritage and its depth of emotions.
