Louis Vuitton Japan Co of LVJ Group K K has planned to start an online shopping service by the first quarter of 2007.
This step will make Louis Vuitton the first major European luxury brand to start a full scale e-shopping in the country.
Entry of Louis Vuitton brand on Japanese online market will be followed by entry of other luxury brands.
Louis Vuitton launched an e-shopping system in France in October 2005, and in Britain, in January this year.
It plans to extend the system to Germany in April.
Almost all available products of the company are sold on the Internet.
Japanese consumers can presently view the brand's official Web site for e-shopping without placing orders for now.
Introduction of e-shopping in Japan next year, will facilitate consumers to go for Louis Vuitton products from bags to accessories, including new ranges, online.
Care will be taken to avoid hurting business of existing shops by items that are to be sold on Internet.
Well known brands are being cautious about online selling as they believe that it might hurt their image.
But sales are picking up on Internet as many importers are selling brand products online.
Louis Vuitton is going ahead with its own online shopping system as it does not want its image to be lowered by importers selling its products on the web.
