Clothing retailer The Wet Seal Inc has reported that same-store sales increased 16.2 percent for the five-week period ended April 1st 2006, compared with an increase of 36.3 percent for the same period, a year ago.
The net sales for the five-week period ended April 1st 2006 were $47.3 million, compared with net sales of $41.0 million for the same period last year, an increase of 15.6 percent.
Joel Waller, CEO of The Wet Seal Inc, said, "We are very pleased to report our fifteenth consecutive month of same-store sales increases. The size of the sales increase was also encouraging given that Easter is in April this year."
During the five-week period ended April 1st 2006, the company did not open or close any stores. At April 1st 2006, the company operated 308 Wet Seal stores and 92 Arden B stores.
