Nordstrom March comparable store sales rise 4.3%

Seattle-based leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom Inc reported preliminary sales of $703.1 million for the five-week period ending April 1, 2006, an increase of 7.0 percent compared to sales of $657.4 million for the five-week period ending April 2, 2005. Same-store sales increased 4.3 percent.

Preliminary quarter-to-date sales of $1.20 billion increased 7.1 percent compared to sales of $1.12 billion in 2005. Quarter-to-date same-store sales increased 4.5 percent.

EXPANSION UPDATE
On March 10, 2006, the company opened a full-line store at The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
