Marimekko, the famous Finnish fashion design house known for its boldly printed textiles, has collaborated with popular Californian clothier Banana Republic to create a limited-edition collection.

Replete with the Helsinki brand’s signature flower prints and huge polka dots and the American retailer’s classic silhouettes, the 25-piece women’s capsule range features dresses, separates and fashion accessories.

Slated to be available at select Banana Republic stores and online from May 22, 2014 onwards, the colourful line includes rompers, blue maxis, sharp white-and-black trousers, patterned tunics and tailored floral shorts.

Founded in 1978, Banana Republic is a mainstream luxury clothing retailer, which owns over 600 stores worldwide. The company is a separate business division operated by the California-based largest specialty apparel retailer The Gap, Inc.

Established in 1951, Marimekko specializes in an array of print heavy eclectic women’s garments and sophisticated home furnishings.
