During the first half of fiscal 2005/06, the Douglas perfumeries increased sales by 13.0 percent to approx. €846 million, thereby further cementing their leadership of the European market. At March 31st 2006, 904 perfumeries made up the branch network.
In Germany, sales at the 423 Douglas perfumeries totaled €454 million, a rise of 1.6 percent over the previous year. This enabled Douglas to secure additional share, even in its domestic German market.
Sales in the Jewelry division rose 3.2 percent to €173 million during the period under review. To facilitate comparisons, the prior year's sales from the 151 Gold Meister locations – which were divested effective September 6th 2005 – have not been taken into account.
The 192 Christ jewelry stores in Germany increased their sales by 0.5 percent to €146 million during the first half of fiscal 2005/06. The seven René Kern jewelry locations posted a 20.2 percent sales increase for a total of approx. €27 million.
Sales in the Fashion division were up by 15.6 percent to approx. €100 million. It should be noted that this – unlike the previous year's figure – also contains Pohland's sales from the Christmas quarter. During the first six months of fiscal 2005/06, Appelrath-Cüpper reported sales of €70.9 million following €73.9 million a year earlier. Pohland posted sales of €28.7 million after €29.4 million in the previous year's period.
In view of good overall trading to date, the Executive Board is now expecting Group sales to rise by between 8 and 10 percent during fiscal 2005/06, with the result from ordinary business activities remaining at the anticipated level of between €125 and €127 million.
