In the biggest ever sponsorship deal for adidas in China, the German sportswear giant announced sponsorship of Chinese national volleyball team, according to the Volleyball Association of China.
Briefing the local media, association said that adidas would sponsor the national teams for the coming five years in a six year deal begining last year.
Under this sponsorship contract of RMB 200 million (US$ 24 million), the company will provide sports gear for men and women national teams.
Traditionally, adidas pays more attention to sponsor football and basketball. However, it has sponsored Cuba women's volleyball team in 2004.
The company is also seeking a brand ambassador from Chinese volleyball teams to promote its products.
