JCK-Las Vegas 2006 jewellery event will prove to be profitable as the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) expects to raise exports to the US to $5.88 billion by the end of this fiscal.
Bakul R Mehta, Chairman, GJEPC, said, "We expect Indian exports to US to increase to 35 percent of total exports at $5.88 billion this year against 28 percent at $4.7 billion in FY 2005-2006".
A total of $50 million worth of merchandise would be displayed by 90 exhibitors at the 15th edition of JCK-Las Vegas 2006 from June 3 to 7.
The Indian participation at the event increased to 90 exhibitors this year from 26 exhibitiors in 2001, Mehta said.
"Rationalisation of tax regime should be parallel to countries like Belgium and Italy and if done, it would help in attracting FDI of $2 billion by 2006-2007," he explained.
