It is solely the responsibility of the Board to recommend dividend levels and for shareholders to vote on them. This Board will continue to set what it believes are appropriate levels of dividend in the future, taking into account all the circumstances of the company, whilst accepting that the Hargreaves family has sufficient votes to block such a recommendation.
Matalan will be giving an update on current trading on 5th July at its annual general meeting.
