Anthony J. Buccina, Vice Chairman and President - Merchandising, commented, "The strongest category in the Carson's stores was Furniture, followed by Shoes, Women's Special Size Apparel and Hard Home. The unseasonably cool weather in June had an unfavorable effect on ladies', men's and children's apparel."
Keith E. Plowman, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer added, "The liquidation of non-go-forward merchandise in the Bon-Ton stores is on target. Home and Furniture liquidation sales contributed to the total increase in comparable store sales for Bon-Ton.
