Spanish fashion retailer Inditex and the Workers' Committee of Zara Logística have reached an agreement whereby the staff of this company, that operates Zara's distribution centre in Arteixo ( A Coruña), will be increased in 250 new employees.

The agreement, endorsed by all the members of the Workers' Committee, covers the contracts of 250 workers of the logistics centres that have become permanent.

With this increase, the staff will be comprised of a total number of 900 employees, and it will allow the group a more efficient approach of the growth of the activity planned for the upcoming years.

Inditex's Logistics Development Plan, according to which two new platforms are expected to be set in train, in Madrid and León, to join the already existing ones in Galicia, Aragón, Catalonia and Valencia, envisages investments for all distribution centres to ensure their capacity to absorb the growth of the points of sales of the Group (between 410 and 490 new stores only in 2006). This increase in the staff fosters the position of the Logistics Centre of Arteixo within the general logistics scheme of Inditex.

The Logistics Centre of Arteixo devotes most of its distribution capacity to dispatch products to the stores of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as to other outlets located in different markets of America, the North of Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific area. During FY2005, upwards of 150 million units were dispatched from its facilities.

Inditex Group is one of the worlds largest fashion distributors, with eight sales formats - Zara, Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home y Kiddy's Class - boasting 2,696 stores in 62 countries.
