Fashion retailer Inditex and French distribution company, Omnium, have reached a preliminary agreement whereby the Spanish group would incorporate in its commercial network in France the premises of ten Bouchara outlets and five Eurodif stores, located in 14 high street sites.

The transfer would take place between the end of 2006 and the first half of 2007. Further to the relevant refurbishment projects, the business premises would house stores of the several fashion formats of the Inditex Group present in France.

The fifteen outlets, located in Paris (2), Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes, Valenciennes, Lille (2), Rouen, Cannes, Angoulême, Boulogne, Dunkerque, Annecy and Poitiers, employ some 250 people who would join the staff of Inditex in France. This transaction is part of the expansion plan of Inditex in France, where the group has at present 127 stores.

The first one, from the Zara format, was launched in Paris in 1990, when the Group was taking its very first steps outside Spain. Since then, 92 Zara stores have been opened. Massimo Dutti, which launched its first store in France in 2002 and Bershka which entered this market on the following year, have 11 and 21 outlets, respectively.

In 2005 the first Pull and Bear store was launched in France and in 2006 it was the turn for Zara Home. Stradivarius has one establishment in the country since 1999.

Inditex Group is one of the worlds largest fashion distributors, with eight sales formats - Zara, Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home y Kiddy's Class - boasting 2,696 stores in 62 countries.
