A seminar about the opening of franchises at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce was organized in São Paulo.
It was opined that there were opportunities for Brazilian companies in the franchise market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Retailing in the Gulf is very competitive as the group of six Arab countries in the Persian Gulf, registers average growth of 10 to 12 percent in fashion retail.
GCC, consisting of the Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, consume more and more jewels, shoes, garments, accessories and cosmetics, although they are also open to new products and formats.
Brazilian franchise can be acquired by offering fine products, good prices and to have shops with a good environment at the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
There is a chance in shoe sector in the GCC, as shoe retail is not very organized, despite the different customer base for the products as they are normally sold in the same shops.
Consumer diversity in the region is varied in countries like the Emirates where most of the population is made up of immigrants hence the market recognizes the multiethnic profile and supplies all price ranges.
Quality of the immigrants has improved and tourism is growing in the region and is a significant consumer market.
The segment of garment sales is very well developed and almost saturated but there is still scope for youth fashion but the Chinese are among the competitors although their products are cheap and low in quality.
