Zara, one of the eight sales formats of the Inditex group, will be the first of many new fascias introduced in Leicester.
Inditex , one of the world's largest fashion groups, has taken a three-level 2,054 sq mtrs (22,000 sq ft) flagship store in the 60,000 sq mtrs (650,840 sq ft) scheme jointly developed by Hammerson and Hermes, for opening its first Zara store in Leicester at the new Shires.
The Inditex group, which deals with activities related to textile design, production and distribution, designs and manufactures almost everything by itself, and new designs are dispatched twice a week to Zara stores.
The £350 million mixed-use development is the latest take-up of large format stores available within the mall area of the new scheme, which will also feature 143 contemporary city-living style apartments and a new café and restaurant quarter including the city centre's first multiplex cinema.
John Lewis is also opening a new flagship 22,000 sq mtrs (204,385 sq ft) four-level department store and will join existing department store retailers Debenhams and House of Fraser.
Moreover, New Look and River Island have also signed up to open flagship stores totalling 8,000 sq mtrs (86,112 sq ft).
Some other major occupants at the new Shires are National Amusements, which is to open Leicester's first city centre multiplex with a 7,000 sq mtrs (75,348 sq ft) Cinema de Lux.
