Glamour-shammer, bling-bling, plunging necklines and 'titillating' dresses! That was not all, there was fashion, music and of course a whole lot of STYLE!
The Red Carpet was rolled out and the cameras were ready. One of the first to walk the red carpet was the stunning Sushma Reddy in a warm red peasant-dress (her exclusive 'message' for you guys in the photo-booth, you cannot miss this one!) followed by Diana Hayden dressed in a safedi ki chamkaar white ethnic outfit, Kailash Kher maaro-ed entry singing Tauba tauba, full filmy style! Bappi-da & family ka entry explains why 80% of the cameramen lost 30% of their vision that night–jhatak-mataak. The cameras soon started trickling into the Auditorium as the show was about to begin.
Our naram dil, naram swabhaao boy, Karan Johar suited 'playing host' just fine. He (along with a whole lot of quirkiness) managed to earn a roomful of laughs. The performances of the Lycra® MTV Style Awards 2006 are what make the event stand apart. Everyone's seen fashion shows and everyone's heard musicians, but having the two come together is something that the finest haven't seen at all.
Started off with Suneet Verma's 'Glamour' collection with Ram Sampant's compositions, moving to J.J. Vallaya's 'Whites' with Shantanu Moitra (the Parineeta man) giving a unique performance with a group of unbelievably talented children. We had Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's 'White Carnival' theme along with Pritam's tunes.
One of the most unexpected duos was that of Anu Malik with Ritu Kumar's 'Bridal wear'. Diana Hayden walked the ramp in a Nawaabi attire and looked nothing less than a begum herself. (Check her out in the photo-booth, absolutely stunning!) But the duo that gelled in most beautifully was Neeta Lulla's 'Bollywood' theme along with the most celebrated musician of Bollywood, humaare Disco King – Bappida. There couldn't have been a better jodi!
