Created in 1888, Damier canvas was the first design ever patented by Louis Vuitton. Though well into its second century, Damier remains as fresh as ever–and indeed is ready for a new departure. Its destination: Damier Azur, a new color that will become part of the permanent collection.
Available in Louis Vuitton stores from November 2006 to coincide with the launch of the Cruise collection, Damier Azur evokes vacations, the eternal appeal of sea and sand and the glamour of the Riviera.
At once subtly different and reassuringly familiar, it offers a more summery, feminine color to complement the existing ebony. Damier Azur sports Louis Vuitton's trademark natural cowhide trim and a bright honey-colored lining.
Damier Azur encompasses a complete collection of leather goods, including three Louis Vuitton icons –Keepall, Speedy and Noé–as well as small leather goods, shoes, sunglasses and accessories. Also within the Damier Azur collection is the new Saleya zippered tote and the Pampelonne, a rope-handled beach tote with plenty of room and style.
