West 49 Inc, Canada's leading action sport retailer, reported its sales results for its third quarter of fiscal 2007, ended October 28, 2006.
Sales for the quarter increased 49.2 percent to $58.2 million from $39.0 million for the third quarter of last year.
The growth was mainly attributable to last year's acquisitions of complementary banners and new stores opened since the third quarter of last year.
At the end of the quarter the Company was operating 125 stores under seven banners compared to 77 stores under three banners the year before.
The Company reported third quarter comparable store sales growth of 5.8 percent(1), compared to the same period last year, with the Company's core West 9 banner achieving comparable store sales growth of 5.6 percent.
During the quarter, he Company opened seven new stores, including two West 49 stores, two Off the all stores, one Amnesia/Arsenic store, one D-Tox store, and one Duke's Northshore location.
For the year-to-date, sales increased 57.9 percent to $133.3 million from $84.4 million last year. Year-to-date comparable store sales grew by 5.2 percent(1) compared to the year before.
The West 49 banner had comparable store sales growth of 3.8 percent, following exceptionally strong comparable store sales growth of 9.5 percent in the corresponding period last year.
West 49 Inc's third quarter earnings are expected to be reported mid-December 2006.
