Scottish Leather Group specialised in chrome tanned wet-blue leathers for footwear, upholstery and leather goods manages long-established tanneries at Bridge of Weir and Paisley, showed a growth of £1.4m in pre-tax profit. This was a satisfactory result against the challenging competitive environment

Though operating turnover fell from £7.9m to £6.1m, due to losses occurred at its only English tannery at Garston near Liverpool. The intensifying energy costs and inferior finished leather goods are also responsible for the lower return.
