Nike to increase exports from Vietnam

Chris Helzer, Head - External Relations in south-east Asia of Nike, is of the opinion that there will be more and more opportunities for Nike and Vietnamese labourers once Vietnam will officially become member of WTO.

Nike's plants in Vietnam currently have 160,000 local employees and in future it will require more employees to achieve its target of 55-60 million pairs of shoes to be exported from Vietnam.

Nike plans to export more products from Vietnam, as WTO membership of the country would abolish commercial barriers.

However, Nike is concerned about US's investigation on dumping cases against Vietnam.
