Joint venture between the Tata Group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation has laid the foundation of Titan Industries in 1984 for manufacturing and marketing of watches.
The company branched out into jewellery with the brand name `Tanishq` in 1995.
Titan has also broadened horizons into fashion eyewear with its Fastrack Eye Gear sunglasses.
Now the Titan industry is planning to venture into prescription eyewear business. This new business has already received the board's approval.
By the end of September this year, Titan Industries has posted a 56.21 percent rise in profit to Rs321.80 million over Rs206 million September 2005.
