“Manufacturers can also be certain that they are incorporating a durable solution into their clothing lines that exceeds the standards for protecting the safety of young children.”
Some manufacturers' zipper pulls have been found to have higher than allowable lead content3, which can cause neurological damage, or behavior and learning problems.
While more than 70 major U.S. retailers in California agreed earlier this year to stop selling children's jewelry containing lead, there are no national standards that protect children from lead risks involved with apparel zippers4. Tag-It has made a commitment to the elimination of lead for all of its zippers.
Aside from being lead-free, Talon KidZip is also nickel-free, even though that is not yet a requirement for U.S. children's apparel, and all finishes and dyes are also free of hazardous chemicals.
In addition, all production is done in units that are OEKO-TEX certified, indicating the product is free from harmful substances which could pose a health risk and ecologically friendly.
Talon is a global supplier to the apparel industry for more than 60 brands, including Levi Strauss & Co, Abercrombie & Fitch, Target Stores, Wal-mart Inc and Express, among others.
