Arvind Group's denim domain will be dented by Century Textiles and Industries Ltd (CTIL) by launching a new denim brand in next two months.

Century Textiles, known for high-quality cotton yarn and fabrics, entered the men's apparel segment in late 2004.

The company markets menswear under two brands, Cotton for pure cotton ranges and Century for non-cotton ranges and plans to launch the denim brand in around April 2007.

In India the denim sector is led by brands like Lee, Wrangler, Newport and Flying Machine.

Initially the company's strategy is to open brand outlets for denim in all the four metros and later seeing the reception of the brand will move to other cites.

The apparel division of Century has about 40 brand outlets with a turnover of Rs25 crore during 2005-06.

Venturing into denim segment and acquiring a market share is a big challenge for Century in the midst of existing companies like Raymond, Arvind Mills, and KG Denim.
