Lakme Fashion Week: opportunity for budding designers

For a budding designer, an opportunity to showcase his designs in a prestigious event like Lakme Fashion Week is like being on cloud nine.
The Lakme Fashion Week, which will be held from March 27 – 31, 2007, is taking initiative to provide a platform for budding designers across India and find them an opening for the international market.
The categories like the 'GenNext' and 'emerging designer' will help promising young designers to gain acceptance in the international fashion arena.
Kolkata is emerging as the fast growing fashion industry of India. The Lakme Fashion Week this year would showcase a total of 30 budding participants of which eight are from Kolkata.
The organizers have received applications, about 28 percent for the emerging designer's category and 13 percent for the GenNext category are from Kolkata.
This initiative by the Lakme Fashion Week will surely boost the moral of the budding designers and provide an exposure in the international market.
