CavinKare, the personal care products company, is focusing on its hair care portfolio with plans to expand its herbal hair colour brand Indica into other formats this year.
“Hair colours will be a focus area for the company and we will strengthen our presence in this segment. We will be expanding the brand into cream and powder colours,” said Ramesh Vishwanathan, Vice-President (Marketing), CavinKare.
Indian shampoo market is around Rs1,800 crore, of which anti-dandruff shampoos constitute Rs350 crore. Company plans to launch more variants of Chik, its flagship shampoo brand, in specific categories like anti-dandruff shampoos, said Vishwanathan.
“This is the fastest growing category within shampoos at present, growing at 40 percent compared to the category growth of 18 percent,” said Vishwanathan.
CavinKare also plans to introduce hair oils under herbal brand Nyle. The company sells hair oils under Meera brand, largely in south India.
The company has recently extended into skincare category with the launch of a cold cream and winter lotion and prefers positioning Nyle as a herbal hair and skin care brand.
CavinKare's personal care business is estimated at Rs385 crore.
