NEW DELHI: Designer Rohit Bal's collection 'Koyla', with its slew of shades of black, blue and brown splashed with dashes of green and pink, enraptured the audience at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here late Wednesday evening.
He was among 11 designers who presented their work at this major event.
Short jackets, balloon skirts, evening gowns, long coats, suits, dhotis and pants from Bal's collection drew lot of applause at WIFW.
Rohit has used fabrics like silk, cotton, chiffons, georgettes, velvet and even wools in his outfits, prominently featuring texturing, stretching and patchwork.
There were high waist skirts as well as long skirts with fabric folded in layers in triangle shape, appearing as if triangles were attached to the skirt. The skirts were coupled with pleated balloon blouses with gatherings at the sleeves, neck and waist.
Fabric was cleverly used to give look of richness with minimum embroidery. The fabric in some dresses was pleated and gathered to present the look of knots and flowers. Similar styling was used in jackets to give them the look of fur.
There were long coats for women as well as handkerchief dresses and bikinis.
Rohit Bal's suits, fabric was layered in a triangular shape to give the look of collars and tie. On sleeves, the fabric was folded in a cone shape to give the look of buttons.
Collection for men featured dhotis teamed with coats and pants, sherwanis and layered skirts matched with coats.
