Known for being inspired by very unusual themes – last season it was the Japanese Sun and this time for Autumn/Winter it is'The Orange Scarf 1927', yet Anand Kabra can turn an unconventional inspiration into a striking collection.

Following the work of Tamara De Lempicka, Anand's collection, a tribute to the artist, was woven around a beautiful multi orange hand painted swirl and cube design, which appeared discreetly throughout his collection.

The garments varied from dresses, pinafores, skirts, blouses, jackets and even saris which were tastefully embellished.

Working predominantly with silk, chiffon and twill Amanda's creations were a pleasant blend of the classic yet contemporary silhouettes.

The detailing was restricted to pleating which appeared on the skirt of the jackets which added to the fine construction of the pieces.

The prints were blended with white or grey shades which were a perfect base for the vibrant design. While the Op-art pattern appeared on the garments it was also seen on hand painted tights.

Particularly interesting were Anand's experiments with the sari which he presented in innovative drapes like setting the pallav through the placket of the jacket or teaming them with a jacket, or adding just a faint shimmer to the borders.

'The Orange Scarf 1927' was inspired by a period in history typifying struggles and revivals; but for Anand Kabra this collection will be a sure seller in any global market.
