The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) announced that its designer members, Anamika Khanna, along with Manish Arora will be the first Indian designers to showcase at the Paris Fashion Week.
The Paris Fashion Week (Spring-Summer 2008) is going to be held from September 30 to October 7, 2007. After a very successful showing at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (Autumn/Winter Showcase) on March 24, Anamika and Manish will show their collections in Paris.
Didier Grumbach (President - Federation Francaise de la Couture Du Pret-a-Porter des Couturiers et des Createurs de Mode) who is now a regular at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week – India's biggest B2B fashion trade event, along with India's apex fashion body, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), confirmed the participation of these two bright and young designers from India at the Spring/Summer edition of the Paris Fashion Week.
The FDCI is exploring and leveraging its association with international Fashion Councils and this is a major breakthrough for the Council and all its member designers.
The aim of this association is to support and nurture the growth of the Indian fashion fraternity and endorse the exchange of talent with counterpart councils internationally.
This is the first time that Indian designers are participating independently under their own labels in the Paris Fashion Week.
Announcing the selection, Rathi Vinay Jha, Director General, FDCIsaid, “Anamika is a talented designer and we are extremely proud of the fact that she along with Manish Arora will be the first Indian designers to make a mark at a prestigious platform like the Paris Fashion Week."
