Every new collection is a stepping-stone in the journey of a designer.
On 30 March 2007, Anupama Dayal will present her latest collection 'The Giant's Garden' at LFW, inspired from the story by Oscar Wilde.
This is the work of a young designer whose talent and dedication have seen her meteoric rise in the fashion industry.
Within three years of her journey as a fashion designer, her label 'ANUPAMAA' retails at over sixty leading luxury stores in India and Europe.?
Her work is unique as she attempts at translating Indian textile traditions in her bold and modern signature style The foundation of her work remains the revival of old printing and needle work techniques.
The current styles include tunics, day and cocktail dresses, maxi dresses, cropped jackets, trench coats and more.
The birds and the flowers in the Giant's Garden will come alive only when children laugh and play in it. The clothes are awash with colour – neon yellow, fuschia , ultramarine blue and deep purple interspersed with neutral greys and olives.
The theme is floral and the flower motifs are oversized. There is also patchwork with a new twist.
Silhouettes are trend driven. Pea pods, trapeze and A lines. There is still focus on volume but skimming the body rather than body hugging or the futurism of the last season.
The message in the Giants Garden is for women to lighten up and seize life's precious gifts and pleasures.
An alumnus of The Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata Anupama has worked closely with her mother who has experience in textiles and has developed programmes for rural India.
Anupamaa is available at M?lange, Aza, Ogaan, Ffolio, Evoluzione, Also and Be as well as several luxury stores in Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East.
Some of these are Daslu, The Cross, Bonn Genie and Bugatti. With new takers since the last fashion week, the list keeps growing.
