Sol y Sombra, Te Quiero and Ava collections, use gold and fine stones to create three portraits of Ava Gardner, not the film star, but the woman who lived the most exciting moments of her life in Madrid the passion under the hot sun of the bullrings, the tender affection of friends who would never forget her, and the fiestas and endless nights out in town.
After many years, Ava continues to enamour Carrera y Carrera's goldsmiths and jewellers, who have shaped and polished these gems to be worn and shown.
The Sol y Sombra collection is inspired by the sun of the afternoon bullfights, the same sun that ignites love, passion and beauty. Carrera y Carrera's goldsmiths have given gold an almost pictorial silhouette, playing with the deep red hues of citrine, and the simple radiance of the diamonds over their yellow gold settings gems of vast purity made to bring out the colour and the natural sensuality of the skin.
In the Te Quiero collection, Carrera y Carrera makes reference to its classic icon the giraffe which represents tenderness, devotion, and freedom. For the new collection, Carrera y Carrera's jewellers are now dedicating this symbol to a woman who above all else always strove to flee from solitude to declare her love for life.
Two giraffe heads are brought together to form the core motif of the collection, where the meticulous elegance of the legendary mini-sculpture is superimposed by the opulence of the quartz fumé and the graceful contrast between the white gold with diamonds and the yellow gold.
