Nuance Group unveils new retail concept at Malta International

The official inauguration of the two SWIFT shops also marks the end of the refurbishment of the retail offer at Malta International Airport. In July 2006, the main Tax and Duty Free was completely refurbished and enlarged from 306 sqm to its current 425 sqm.

The confectionery and toys categories were added to the offer and the shop was given a brighter modern look. At the same time, customer service was greatly improved through The Nuance Group's Best Selling training. All of these initiatives have resulted in a significantly increased passenger spend rate.

Introducing the concept, Jean-Paul Bonnel, CEO Europe, The Nuance Group, said: “I am pleased to present a truly innovative new shop concept designed to meet the challenges of a changing airport retail environment."

Peter Bolech, Chief Executive Officer of Malta International Airport, said that the presence of the Nuance Group has enhanced retail activity at Malta International Airport and the new concept store on arrivals and the outlet at the new Non-Schengen Departures Area have added value to this important activity.

"Retailing has been one of the strategic objectives that the Company has adopted since the airport's privatisation five years ago. In spite of being a relatively small airport, Malta International Airport has developed an impressive range of outlets and we are planning further development and re-designing to meet the expectations of our clients" Mr Bolech said.
