Sonata launches new Super Fiber Watches Collection

Sonata, India's largest watch brand from the house of Tata, has announced the launch of its new Super Fiber Collection. This latest collection marks the entry into the huge 'Plastic watch' segment, which was dominated by unbranded players.
The Super Fiber collection is targeted for the first time buyers in the age group of 16-20, who are keen on having a watch, which would last long as well as look trendy.
Advantages that these watches provide are the straps are made of PU (Poly Urethane) component unlike other common brand where the straps are made of a lesser quality PVC material. The PU material enables the straps to be more flexible and long lasting. Another attractive quality is that all the watches in the "Super Fiber" collection are water resistant upto 30 mts.
This Super Fiber Collection comprises of 28 models and is expected to redefine the style quotient of the growing plastic watch category. The unique new designs ranges from the basic to the sporty look. The women's watches have the rounded as well as the rectangular designs, while the men's have stylish features like sporty dials, thicker straps.
The overall watch market in India is estimated to be around 36 million and market for plastic look watches is estimated at 4.5 million units annually. The rural market comprises of around 45% of the watch segment. The plastic watches as a category, is largely popular amongst the younger consumers.
Currently over 80% of plastic watches sold are non-branded. Through the introduction of the “Super Fiber Collection, Sonata aims to change the dynamics of the economy price segment and bring excitement into the category by unique combination of new styles and guarantee of good quality.
The “Super Fiber” collection is available at all multi brand watch shops and exclusive Sonata showrooms and more than 10,000 authorized Sonata dealers across the country.
