Gap opens first Banana Republic store in Atlantic Canada

Gap Inc announced it will open its first Banana Republic store in Atlantic Canada. The 6,553 sq. ft. store will open its doors in Halifax Shopping Centre on July 2, 2007.

"We're extremely excited to bring the brand to the Maritimes because consumers in this market are seeking the high-quality, affordable luxury Banana Republic offers. This is a direct response to what our customers want," said Tara Wickwire, spokesperson for Banana Republic (Canada).

"This opening in Halifax means Banana Republic can be enjoyed by even more fashion-conscious shoppers looking for the unique modern sense of style Banana Republic stands for."

Banana Republic, which currently has nearly 500 stores and annual sales of more than $2 billion in North America, is known for offering modern interpretations of classic fashion for women and men through elevated design and luxurious fabrications at affordable prices. The Halifax opening marks Banana Republic's 27th store in Canada.
