After a few meetings between ABIT and the organizers of Pitti Bimbo, Brazilian apparel companies will participate for the first time in the 65th edition of the most important fair for the children's clothing segment in the world, to be held June 29 to July 1 in Florence, Italy.
The Texbrasil Program, developed in partnership with the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), will coordinate the companies going to the event.
The Lilica Repilica, by Marisol; Green By Misako and You By Mo, by Green; PUC and Hering Kids, by Hering, and BC Girls, by Bicho Comeu were the chosen brands to exhibit their collections.
According to Rafael Cervone Netto, Texbrasil manager, the Pitti Bimbo organizers are very careful and meticulous in selecting participants since the fair only gathers powerful global brands for children's fashion.
“The Italians were surprised with the quality of Brazilian apparel in this segment,” informed Cervone. A total of 535 brands from 400 companies and nearly 8 thousand buyers for around the world will participate in this edition.
Italy is an important market for the textile and apparel trade. Last year, Brazil exported US$ 31 million in textile products for Italians. The Moda Bebê segment was responsible for US$ 171.7 thousand.
In the first four-month period of 2006, Brazilian exports to Italy totaled US$ 84.6 thousand, whereas in the same period of 2007 a total of US$ 210 thousand was recorded for a growth of 149.22%.
“Participation at Pitti Bimbo will provide great visibility to the Brazilian brands in Europe, which is very good for new business,” said Cervone.
ABIT will have an island in the Salla de Grotte to facilitate support to Brazilian companies. The entity's coordination work includes promotional actions and media.
