This showcase has come about due to the cooperation between Pakistan Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week, as a direct result of IMG Fashion's involvement in both events. Lakme Fashion Week is pleased to be in a position to promote a positive relationship between the Pakistan and Indian fashion industries and looks forward to forging an ongoing relationship between the two.
“IMG FASHION is extremely proud to be involved in the creation and launch of the inaugural Pakistan Fashion Week and to be able to offer the opportunity for some of its participating designers to also take part in Lakme Fashion Week, as a direct result of IMG Fashion's connections with both events.”
“As owners and operators of some of the world's leading fashion weeks including New York, Sydney, Los Angeles, Berlin, and Moscow, we are thrilled with the opportunity to assist the Pakistan industry to make their debut on the international fashion week circuit.”
“We hope that these events will succeed in showcasing to the world the incredible creativity and innovation of the Pakistan fashion designers and I encourage the industry to join as one and to take advantage of this incredible opportunity that has been created by the Jang Group and Lakme”, said Simon P Lock Managing Director, IMG FASHION & MODELS Asia Pacific.
Lahore, Pakistan, will, for the first time, join some of the world's leading style capitals including New York, Milan, Paris, London, Sydney, Shanghai,Mumbai and Tokyo as a host city of an international fashion week. The international fashion week circuit is the foundation of global business enterprise for ready to wear fashion designers.
Twice a year the world's leading fashion buyers from department stores and fashion boutiques along with the fashion media travel the circuit to preview the new collections of the world's leading designers.
For the first time there is now a stop on the circuit in Pakistan providing an opportunity for the local industry to showcase its work to both a national and an international audience. Pakistan Fashion Week will commence annual showing Spring / Summer collections in November and it is hoped over time that Autumn / Winter collections will be introduced in April.
