Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) will be participating in the 40th Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair –2007 to be held in Bangkok THAILAND FROM 18TH – 22ND September, 2007.
Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) is packaging this brand as “GEMS & JEWELLERY - PAKISTAN”, the pavilion has 18 stalls in the exhibition.
Pakistan participated in this fair in 2005 and 2006, attracting a large number of people from across the world and managed to get orders worth US$ 6 and 12 million in respective years.
The exhibitors including two women entrepreneurs have been given the stalls on subsidized rates by Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) a non-profit public/private entity established with the objective to develop the Gems and Jewellery sector in Pakistan.
Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) is the culmination of efforts put in by the Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan and the stakeholders of the Gems and Jewellery sector in Pakistan.
Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, took the initiative to gather the stakeholders and formed a Strategic Working Group (SWOG) which was assigned to formulate the strategy to develop the Gems and Jewellery sector in Pakistan.
The strategy developed by SWOG in being implemented by the company. PGJDC is a public private partnership to develop the value chain of gems and jewellery sector from mine to the market.
