THE UNDYING WEST:
Jeans for ever, from the lonesome cowboy to Navajo blankets. Colours shifting from blue to light blue, to strawberry, to dusty colours. Raw leather and woven leather, matched with denim, prints, faded and felted fabrics. Sandals with city-inspired wedges and soft summer boots matched together seamlessly.

MEN'S TRENDS SPRING SUMMER 2008

Once again design influences the other decorative arts, and fashion is no exception. After several seasons in which decoration has been used somewhat invasively, we now return to re-thinking lines and shapes first and foremost.

Three major trends emerge for men's footwear in Spring-Summer 2008. They share a common theme: that of developing urban, dynamic forms.

THE MORE URBAN THEME:
Norwegian Spring. A new minimalism, inspired by the Neoplasticism of Alvar Aalto, which sees monochrome palettes of cool colours used even for summer.

Shapes are often asymmetrical, with the tips made more dynamic by bold lines. For materials, there is a meeting/clash of natural materials such as calfskin or canvas with technical fabrics.

THE MORE RELAXED THEME:
Tropical Spring. Getting back to a vintage atmosphere that has a touch of Cuba in the Fifties. Colour makes a subtle comeback, from medium whites to dusty pastels. Shapes here are retro yet elegant. In materials, openwork and woven split leather makes a comeback, combined with calfskin.

THE MORE AGGRESSIVE THEME. AMERICAN SUMMER:
Summer in the city, with attitude and function, formality and dynamism. Grey, white and black are cut with tones such as red, yellow and lacquer blue. Shapes are dominated by the techno influence. Leathers have a rubbery look. Calfskin and technical mesh on the uppers are assembled on rubber soles.
