The Nuance Group congratulated and thanked the federal government on the introduction of new regulations for Arrivals duty free shopping when entering Australia. Under the new rules which are part of the Tourism Shopping Reforms introduced by the government last year and which have taken effect on October 6, customers are able to purchase products including watches, sunglasses and fashion accessories on arrival into Australia.
“This is an excellent example of the government working closely with industry to create an improved environment for consumers,” commented David Odgers, Business Development Director, Australia & New Zealand.
“Australia already leads the world in convenience for duty free shopping and this change will make Australian duty free shopping even better, benefiting tourists and returning residents alike.”
Customers at Australian airports will benefit in two main ways. Firstly, a broader range of tax and duty free merchandise will be available in Arrivals stores alongside the perennial favourites of liquor, fragrance and cosmetics.
Secondly, customers will be able to select goods on departure from the full range of tax and duty free goods and using the Ready for Collection service have them waiting to pick-up on their return to Australia.
“This is where Australian duty free shopping will set itself apart,” continued Odgers, “When you have spare time on departure you can shop for the products you want, whether it's the latest iPOD or camera or your preferred cosmetics regime."
