With Global warming as her inspiration Gayatri Khanna presented a collection at Lakme Fashion Week that will not only send the right messages to the wearer but was a perfect line for the sultry days of summer 2008.
Titled Our Beautiful Earth – Prevent Global Warming, Gayatri had two sections to convey the story of before and after effects of global warming.
Fresh Earth was a print story in colours like leaf green ,blue, purple, black, peach, red, saffron, ombres and peach for silk taffeta, chiffon, waffle textured cotton, organza, lace and chamois silk - all 100% natural fabrics.
The silhouettes ranged from long halter dresses to toga tops, high waist skirts, full sleeve dresses, lace tops and tiny shifts.
For the section Dry Earth, Gayatri worked with dried flower prints which had colours of white, sand, beige, burnt brown and grey.
The silhouettes were fluid and feminine with pleated dresses Jodhpur trousers, bubble tunics, cargo shorts and will power shift dresses, all being ideal summer wear.
From day to evening wear the glitter and dazzle moved up the formal quotient as the garments made their social statement as well as created an interesting and practical collection for the fashionistas all over the globe.
Gayatri Khanna scored high on the fashion charts with her environmentally friendly yet very stylish collection.
