Pria Kataria unveils 'Kashmir Ki Kali' collection

Stark white trees lined the catwalk with shimmering red fairy lights. The runway was sprinkled with prints of chinar leaves and flowers from the Shalimar and Nishad gardens of Srinagar as the Kashmir Ki Kali collection unveiled at the Lakme Fashion Week.

Bringing to the limelight the beauty of her Kashmir, Pria Kataria Puri presented a lyrical collection of the most exotic, creations that reflected the craft of the region.

From long luxurious gowns to short Lycra kaftans, togas, skirts, body suits, saris and a blitz of rhinestone splashed minis and bridal wear; Pria presented a kaleidoscope of designs that unfurled on to the ramp revealing the ethereal charm of the state.

Shades of yellow, orange, white, blue, rust, red, grey created a perfect base for the innovatively printed garments many of them fitting in perfectly with the silhouette of the dresses.

Embroidery by the master craftsmen of Kashmir has been creatively used by Pria. She concentrated on Kashmiri tilla work in 18 carat antique gold and silver for the paisley motifs; along with resham wool and cotton thread work for floral designs, as she recreated the chinar leaf and blossoms of Kashmir.

Silk, georgette, jersey, satin, crepe, Egyptian and Banarasi cotton, mul-mul and silk Pashmina came together for the show stopping collection.

Here was formal wear that could only be termed as “uber” sophisticated particularly aimed at the international buyer who relishes being the cynosure of all eyes.

Pria Kataria Puri's fashionable ode to her beloved Kashmir was an exotic line of garments that had the perfect fusion of eastern and western sensibilities.
