Her inspiration was the small town girl called Dona from whose diary, Nimita Rathod dreamt up her Past Forward collection of women's wear for Spring/Summer 2008 at the Lakme Fashion Week.

It was fun wear all the way for the girl who wants to make strong fashion statements with not only the colours but also the fabrics.

Keeping a muted shade of neutrals like stone, pearl and steel on the palette with a touch of green, ruby red and amethyst; Nimita had a range of dresses, tunics and minis with interesting detailing.

The fabrics were stylishly formal with velvet and natural fabrics playing with the shapes.

From the beige mini with circular pockets and mid green contrasts, Nimita creatively used 3/D appliqués on the side for some of the ensembles, while her separates were a comfortable pair of velvet tights with fluid printed tunic.

Trendy smocks in ivory, a flowing brown pinafore over a red printed blouse and a velvet maroon mini were some of the interesting pieces.

Using the fabrics in an interesting manner, Nimita ruffled it to make shorts and then added them to puff sleeves for a sheath and a ruffled hemline for a baby doll mini.

For a young girlie collection, the Past Forward line from Nimita Rathod will recreate an era of those bygone days for the young trendy wear.
