The mood was soft dreamy and romantic as the French melodies filled the air and Urvashi Kaur's Spring/Summer 2008 collection titled “La Vie en Rose” glided down the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week.
The Parisian inspired collection was worked around the prettiest of nude shades and soft powder puff colours like ivory, salmon and old rose to pistachio green, sand and sepia.
The detailing was trés French – lots of tiny frills, pin tucks, ruffles, that turned the sheer sensuous chiffons, fine silks, emboidered laces, nets, voiles and shifflies into dreamy feminine wear.
The silhouettes were summery and very practical as the tops, peasant blouses, sheer layered skirts, corsets, softly rouched pants and sarouels completed the breezy line.
While the theme and styles were French in nature the embellishments were Indian when it came to techniques and motifs with an ethnic accent for the fusion kurtas.
Pretty as a picture were the cream balloon tulle dress with jersey lining, the tiny off-white cotton shrug over net top and skirt with velvet inserts, balloon silk skirt, printed cotton baby doll dress with smocked yoke and shrug and the elegant regal chiffon gown with draw strings on skirt.
For an absolutely feminine collection, Urvashi Kaur has scored a winner with “La Vie en Rose” which will be one of the most romantic fashion offerings for the coming season.
