Abdul Haldar is known for his expertise with glamorous gowns and he confirmed it with his stunning collection inspired by the era of fashion during the Italian Mafia reign at the Lakme Fashion Week.
His Spring/Summer 2008 under his label Haldar Miraya's is renown for its dramatic bridal wear and evening gowns.
The look was a blend of black and wine coloured gowns and cocktail creations in silk taffeta, knit, viscose and veloire for women's wear.
Pleats, drapes, tiers gave the garments grandeur from the eras of the Italian life. The detailing, layering and the intricate embroidery on the bodices of the gowns were carefully crafted.
Some of the fabulous creations were the black gown with ray pleats and antique embroidery, the Baffin dress in silk taffeta, the long wine coloured dress with zig zag pleats and the pleated fan dress with antique work.
All the dresses were worn with glass nylon tights to complete the look of the inspiration. Men's wear was in line; with veloire appliqués for the brown jackets and silk shirts with gold knot ties.
Abdul Haldar has had the honour of working with pop star Michael Jackson for whom he has designed a complete wardrobe inspired by the Indian emperors of the past.
The show stopper was model turned actor Rahul Dev who fitted perfectly into the image of the garments as he strode down the ramp.
It was a very ornate look for both the sexes but for women and men who long for the glamour of the European 40s Abdul Haldar sets the right mood for the coming season.
