Mr. Rahul Mehta, Vice President of Asian Apparel Federation & President of CMAI informed that Asia is the most efficient & cost effective manufacturing hub for apparel & fashion accessories in the world. However, the Asian manufacturers are dependent on USA & EEC markets.
Though sourcing by major global brands & global retailers has been on the rise, the price realization for most Asian apparel producers has declined. In fact, Asia itself is a biggest market for apparel having large captive consumption.
Countries like China, India, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea are not only world's fastest growing economies but also the largest emerging garment & fashion markets. These countries offer as much opportunity to the Asian apparel manufacturers, brands & retailers to expand their business as much as they do to their western counterparts.
Mr. Premal Udani, Chairman, Asian Apparel Conference Organizing Committee, stated that the second Asian Apparel Conference will highlight the recent economic prosperity in various Asian Countries.
It will also study spending pattern of these consumers on different segments of clothing. Emerging trends in branding & retailing will be brought into focus. The changing scenario offers large business potential to Asian apparel companies within Asia.
