Marlboro turns twenty, plans to raise sales in Turkey

Marlboro Classics turns twenty and celebrates in Paris in the renowned Le Bataclan, music hall theatre, fitted out for the occasion like an American meeting point by Shortcut events.

Actors like Jean Marc Barr and Lambert Wilson have confirmed their presence at the party, which will include a concert by David Hallyday, son of acclaimed singer Johnny Hallyday.

Plans for the evening include a catwalk show which will showcase about thirty or so outfits from the Spring Summer collection 2008 by Marlboro Classics.

Meanwhile, the brand develops its plan to increase sales in Turkey, following the good performance of the first nine months of the year, which have seen the Marlboro Classics brand, together with the other minor brands of the Valentino Fashion Group, mark the best growth performance of the group, up by 10.5% to 250 million Euro.

Last Friday Vfg had announced its results for the first nine months of the year with 1.720,5 million Euro of consolidated revenue, an increase of 9.2% due also to the excellent performance in both Europe (+9.5%) and the United States (+21% using stable exchange rates).

The operating profit came in at 261 million Euro (15.2% of the turnover) up by 14.8% while the result before tax was 248 million Euro (+13.3%) and the net consolidated profit 176.5 million Euro (+13%).

The financial debt has grown by 10% to 435.7 million Euro (392.9 million on 30th September 2006) which the company explained“is due mainly to the more sustained uses of circulating capital”.
