On the first night of the event, after the ceremony speeches by representatives from MarediModa and the Cannes Local Council, a large number of visitors witnessed the award ceremony for the winner of the Beachwear Award, organized for the fourth consecutive year in collaboration with Mittelmoda International Lab.
The Australian designer Sarah Schofield was voted winner by a technical jury and by the public, a decision that was not made any the easier by the skills and the quality of the work of the other two finalists.
A new event for this year that was also widely appreciated was the happy hour held at the end of the evening, with good food and with music from DJ Chris together with Saxo Fred Cataro's saxophone.
At the end of the second evening many people attended the “Production and supply strategies for beachwear and lingerie manufacturers” workshop, where the results of research conducted by the SMI-ATI Research Studio into the advantages in terms of quality, delivery times and flexibility, as well as increased revenue, for those who chose the European and Mediterranean production system rather than production in the Far East.
The success of the event is further proof that the direction taken by MarediModa to offer visibility and to defend creativity in the sector is yielding extremely positive results and it also helps reinforce the Group's commitment as it begins work on MarediModa 2008. The event will be held, as ever, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, from the 25th to the 27th November 2008.
