'They still face the challenge in Canada of trying to assimilate fashion as part of culture, to enjoy the benefits pertinent to a thriving industry," said Robin Kay. "The FDCC has gone to every length to produce a world class Fashion Week that represents to the world how talented their designers are.'

This October, over 45 designers from across Canada including Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver Ottawa and Toronto will unite under one roof and showcase their Spring/Summer 2006 collections. Beckerman, Izzy Camilleri, David Dixon, Denis Gagnon, Paul Hardy, Mackage, Pat McDonagh, Arthur Mendonça, Renata Morales, Pink Tartan, Preloved, Andy Thê-Anh, and Ula Zukowska among others will strut their wares over the weeklong event.

MUZIK's centre hall will be transformed into a fashionista's dream with installations from Vintage 69, Alan Anderson Jewellery, artist Julie Moon, Canadian Apparel Magazine, Style Magazine and its Style Export Awards, FASHION Magazine's Beauty Bar, Rowenta, Restylane, and the Corsets and Courses exhibition for the Willow Breast Cancer Organization.

L'Oréal Fashion Week is the premiere bi-annual fashion event that is uniquely Canadian enabling designers from coast to coast to showcase their talent on an international stage.

Founded in 1999, the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) is a national, non-profit industry association that exists to mobilize and promote fashion in Canada. Through L'Oréal Fashion Week and outgoing missions in Milan, Paris, London and New York, the FDCC is intent upon showcasing Canadian designers to the world. For more information visit www.fdcc.ca.
