The closure of Warren factory will have cascading effects on the economy of the state and some even blame NAFTA for closing of so many manufacturing facilities.
Officially launched in 1994, the North American Free Trade Agreement encourages free trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico withdrawing all trade barriers including tariffs on most of the goods produced by these countries, to boost regional economy.
And textile manufacturing has been hard hit claim American labor that say American industries closed plants and shifted manufacturing to Mexico, alongwith outsourcing jobs and goods.
Gary Lindsay, a member of Warren's Planning Board has the final word to offer: "Our government has destroyed the American dream with the Free Trade Act."
